Theme editor basics
Open the theme editor from Online Store > Themes and select Customize next to the theme. The editor shows a live preview of your store in the middle and the content of the current page in the sidebar.
Pages and templates
Section titled “Pages and templates”Use the page selector at the top of the editor to switch between the home page, product pages, collection pages and the others. Each kind of page has its own template, so a section you add to one product page appears on every product page that uses the same template.
Sections
Section titled “Sections”Sections are the large parts of a page, such as a slideshow, a collection list or a newsletter sign-up.
- Add a section: select Add section in the sidebar and pick one from the list.
- Reorder: drag a section by its handle in the sidebar.
- Hide: select the eye icon next to the section. Hidden sections keep their settings.
- Remove: open the section and select Remove section at the bottom of its settings.
The header and footer are section groups: they show on every page, and the sections in them are edited the same way.
Blocks
Section titled “Blocks”Blocks are the parts inside a section, such as a heading, a button or a slide. Select a section to see its blocks, then use Add block to add one, drag blocks to reorder them, and open a block to change its settings. Each section article in the theme’s documentation lists the blocks that section accepts.
Theme settings
Section titled “Theme settings”Theme settings apply to the whole store: colors, typography, buttons, cart behavior and more. Open them with the Theme settings icon in the editor’s sidebar. The theme’s documentation has one article per settings group.
Save and preview
Section titled “Save and preview”- Select Save to keep your changes. Unsaved changes are lost when you leave the editor.
- Switch between desktop and mobile previews with the icons at the top of the editor.
- Undo a change with the undo arrow or Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac).
